Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District

The Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District is a community development corporation that transformed the picturesque Lincoln Park neighborhood into a vibrant community with USGBC LEED Certified Gold and Silver affordable housing and mixed-use buildings, cultural programming, and urban agriculture — all while creating "green" jobs in the city of Newark, N.J.

Baye Adofo-Wilson served as joint developer of more than $50 million dollars of mixed-use residential and retail buildings in Lincoln Park, utilizing new market tax credits and other tools to bring essential city infrastructure such as low-income housing to the area.

Fairmount Heights

As Deputy Mayor of Housing & Development for Newark, N.J., Baye Adofo-Wilson led the city's efforts in partnership with PSE&G. This project successfully beautified an essential new component of Newark’s infrastructure — the $277 million Fairmount Heights Switching Station that would enhance grid reliability.

The art wall was added to the facade of the new switching station, creating visual and functional impact in the community. Designed by David Adjaye and curated by Danny Simmons and Victor Dawson, the project included work from more than a dozen artists, including six from Newark, who created massive sculptures, mosaics, and other works.

Mulberry Commons

Mulberry Commons is $10 million public-private development project that revitalized Newark's downtown area.This public green space provides a vital link between many of the area’s most notable attractions including the Prudential Center and Newark Penn Station, one of the nation’s busiest rail hubs.

Baye Adofo-Wilson acted as the Deputy Mayor of Housing and Development for Newark, NJ. during the development of this project. Mulberry Commons plays a critical role in the development of Ironside Newark - a vibrant mixed-use office and retail building located adjacent to the park that is home to Mars Wrigley’s North American headquarters, among other tenants.

Lincoln Park Music Fest

Created in 2006 by Baye Adofo-Wilson, the annual multi-genre, musical event located within Lincoln Park became an essential part of Newark's culture. Each year, more than 50,000 people come to Newark for this can’t-miss event, with attendees from the city, surrounding region, and beyond.

The three-day music festival features hip-hop, jazz, gospel, and dance music as well as an eco-vendor marketplace. Over 200 artists performed in its first seven years, including James Moody, the Clark Sisters, Richard Smallwood, Ice T, Q-Tip, Loletta Holloway, Amiri Baraka, Redman, Sybil Lynch, and Kurtis Blow.
